Years ago, during the previous to previous regime, when Fr. George CL was the Dean of Administration, this incident occurred. A girl student, few weeks after the orientation (for first year students), barged into his office and literally shouted at him, “Jesuit’s institutions are known for rules and regulations, discipline and order, whereas in this institution rules seem to exist only on the Manuel of policies, and the order, neither in the Manuel nor in the reality, and I am totally disappointed and disoriented.” Fr. George CL just looked at her dump bound, it took him time to comprehend the situation then he said to her that she is new to the place and the system to make sweeping statements, if at the end of the second year she continue hold the same opinion, then he would seriously assess the environment of the institute and make necessary amendments.
Towards the end of second year, the same girl walked into his office and expressed her gratitude and gratefulness regarding the institute; it is a marvelous place where freedom is given to grow and mature. If not here, she would not have learned so many things like playing basket ball at 2.00 am, JLT round the clock, group works etc... She emphatically recommended that the environment of the institute is healthy and it should and must continue to remain the same, it shapes everyone for good.
Fr.George CL recollected this event and then made his trade mark punch dialogue “Management is basically doing nothing and taking all credits.” Immediately, I came up with the counter punch dialogue, “What we basically do is; selecting very good students and not only corrupt their life styles but make them proud of that achievement”.
Note for those who do not know the meaning of punch dialogue
Punch Dialogue: it is the dialogue delivered by Rajanikanth when he meets a big challenge (problem) or the villain or the heroine, for Rajini all these are one and same.
Do the "very good students" take credits for their currupt life styles?
